Welcome To Community Church! We are glad to have Pastor Ezra leading us in our morning services today. Pastor Dave will be helping out the Monroe Community Church with the installation of their pastor today. Our Sunday School and Adult Classes will begin meeting again today.
This Morning’s Offerings:
▪Our first offering is being taken for our GENERAL FUND. This fund provides for the day-to-day needs of the church, such as utilities, staff, ministry expenses, etc. This fund currently has a deficit so please prayerfully consider giving a little more to help us meet our monthly need and reduce our deficit.
▪Our second offering is being taken for our LOAN REDUCTION FUND. This fund makes payments on our building loan. Each month we need to raise about a thousand dollars to cover the payment obligation. Please follow God’s leading as to how much you can give. Those using budget envelopes are reminded to utilize the labels provided inside the front of your budget box-or write “Loan Reduction Fund” on “Other” line on the envelope.
Prayer Time Tonight: This evening we will be spending time praying for our ministries and our church at our monthly prayer service. Plan on coming tonight to start off the New Year seeking God’s blessings in prayer!
Next Sunday Morning, we will be celebrating the sacrament of communion. Everyone is encouraged to spend time in God’s Word and prayer in preparation for this sacrament of spiritual union with our Lord.
– Dale B. was admitted to Blodgett Hospital for tests.
– Ken H. was able to return home following his recent fall.
Let’s lift both of our brothers in Christ and their families in prayer that they would experience healing and comfort.
MINISTRY NOTES & REQUESTED ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Winter Fest is a Godwin area festival to be held Saturday, February 18th from 1PM-4PM here at Community Church. We are getting assistance from the Kroc Center, Godwin Schools, and other organizations. Volunteers are needed to help with the games and the food. A sign-up sheet is located on the table in the lobby for those who are willing to help. More information about this event will be provided in the coming weeks.
Woman’s Support Group, led by LeAnne J., will restart again on January 16. This class meets every other Monday for six sessions. Dates are January 16 & 30, February 13 & 27, and March 13 & 27. If you have questions about this class please speak with Bonnie Thomas.
Tuesday Morning Bible Study invites you to join them Tuesdays from 9:30AM-11:00AM as they begin a new study of the book Ostriches, Dung Beetles, and other Spiritual Masters by Janice McLaughlin. This is a book of virtues using images from the wilds of Africa to teach us about living virtuous lives. The Dung Beetle teaches perseverance; the Ostrich teaches caution; the Wildebeest teaches cooperation; the Hornbill teaches unconditional love; the Hippopotamus teaches humility and self acceptance.
Each chapter begins with a brief description of the African animal describing a characteristic that relates to a human virtue of daily life. Then McLaughlin points out the relationship and elaborates on the virtue’s application to daily life. Each chapter concludes with a scripture passage relevant to the virtue, reflection questions, and suggested actions to introduce or practice the virtue in our lives.
BoxTop$ For North Godwin Ministry: Clip & save BoxTop$ for Education labels; bring them to church and leave them in the box on the table in the lobby.
Please Pray For The Persecuted: The Sri Lankan church was bombed by enemies of Christianity. The attackers scrawled “The church is no more” on the building’s charred structure. Despite the recent attack, Christians continued to gather inside the building’s ruins for Sunday School proving their attackers wrong.
Aggression against Christians in Sri Lanka escalated after the government considered a law banning “forcible conversions.” Churches throughout Sri Lanka continue to endure attacks, but Christians still gather for worship.
In The Event Of A Cancellation:…it will be announced on Wood TV 8 (webpage: woodtv.com/closings).
