Bulletin For October 8th, 2017

Welcome To Community Church! We continue our theme of Always Reforming for the month of October as we remember the Reformation 500 years go! Today, our theme is The Fire, the importance of the Holy Spirit in our lives and our church! We will also be celebrating the sacrament of communion this morning where you are invited to come to the front to accept the elements. Everyone who professes to know Jesus Christ as their Savior is invited to participate in this. Parents and grandparents are asked to discern whether your children or grandchildren understand the meaning of the Lord’s Supper before they participate. May God bless the time of worship that we have together today!

Council Of Delegates: Pastor Dave has been appointed to the denomination’s Council of Delegates by Classis Grand Rapids South which is the board which oversees the denominational ministries. He will be out of the office as he attends these meetings from Wednesday to Friday of this week. If you have a special need during this time, contact Pastor Ezra, Bonnie Thomas or one of the Elders.

Matching Gift Of Up To $2,000 Is Being Offered For Our Parking Lot Fund! During the month of October, we have the opportunity to raise up to $2,000 that will be matched to help us get closer for the expenses that are needed for our parking lot work. You can help by collecting coins, pop cans, and watching for plans for a Soup Supper later this month sponsored by the Community Crafters Group to help us reach this goal! If you have questions, see the deacons.

October Is Pastor Apprecation Month! If you would like to show your appreciation for Pastors Dave & Sandy and Ezra & Becky, there are baskets on the table in the lobby for cards, gifts, and notes. We will place these baskets there each Sunday until the end of October.

Picture Directory UpdateThank you to everyone who signed up to get their photo taken for our picture directory. Photos will be taken this week Wednesday through Saturday; appointment reminder cards can be found in your church mailbox; a list is also posted on the bulletin board in the lobby for your convenience (listed by last name). If you have not made an appointment but would like to be included, please contact Dawn. (FYI: in case you were wondering, the background for our photos in our directory will be “caramel”)

Volunteers Are Still Needed to help check families in as they arrive for their photo session. If you are able to help in this area please sign up on the sheet provided on the information table.

– Charlie B. was transferred from Saint Mary’s Hospital to Crestview for rehab before returning home. Let’s remember him and Peggy in prayer for healing and strength.

– Rick R. continues to improve during his stay at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Center. He is hoping to be able to return home sometime next week. Let’s lift Rick in prayer for continued healing, strength, mobility and comfort and that he may be able to return home.

– Our Christian sympathy is extended to Ken and Debra K. at the passing of Ken’s sister this past week. We pray our Lord blesses them with His love, strength and comfort.

If you are looking for help as you fight addiction and want to get grounded in the Word that will set you free, come on Monday nights to be a part of this Bible Study time. Information sheets can be found on the table in the lobby.

Pray For The Persecuted In Somalia, al-Shabab (terrorists) unashamedly proclaims that its goal is to eliminate Christianity. Abdi, a Christian, had been watched by al-Shabab due to his acts of faith. As he drove to work in Mogadishu, gunfire erupted around his car. He slowed down and a group of men armed with AK-assault rifles approached the driver’s side of his car, shot Abdi to death and then fled. Al-Shabab got their man, but God’s Word lives, discretely but confidently being spread in Somalia. Pray for God’s protection over Christians around the world that are being bullied, harmed or killed for their faith
