“My heart really has a passion for reaching out.

“My heart really has a passion for reaching out.  Community Church, where I serve, is a church that really tries to reach out to it’s neighborhood and it has a real passion for outreach.  God’s also given me the opportunities in the classis to be involved in the new church development and other areas where we’re sharing the good news with others…that’s what helps me and encourages me to keep going. It’s having these kinds of opportunities.”

I see a hunger for deep love and relationships

“The world is [becoming] increasingly secular –they think it’s spiritual.”
What’s your heart response toward the human condition right now?
“I see a hunger for deep love and relationships they haven’t made…there is a deep hunger for God’s love. And, sometimes, we [the church] skip that part; passing that need and their hidden cry.

Communication is key, and having God in your life.

Dale, 73 & Christine, married 31 years, what advice do you have for a young couple?
Dale, “Find the right woman, love the right woman. That’s it.”
Christine, “You need to have faith to keep going in life –you can’t avoid what’s ahead. Communication is key, and having God in your life.”

Everyone’s focusing on themselves and their own popularity

What has to change to make the world a better place?
“We have to be aware of other people; there’s a big focus on ourselves. Everyone’s focusing on themselves and their own popularity.”
|How do we start to change that focus?
“Going out of your way to talk to people. Find out more about people, because you can learn a lot more about a person that way.”

I don’t have time for hate and discontent

You haven’t stopped moving since I got here, why do you serve like this?
“I don’t have time for hate and discontent. I [do] this for Jesus because he [does] it for me. He don’t belong to me, I belong to him.”

Most meaningful thing life has taught me so far is to cherish all the little things

What do you hope your life is like when you’re 76?
“A lot better than it is now. It’s hard. I have a job, I am homeless, so I don’t have anywhere to go. I’m hoping by that age, I’m either in the ground, or living better –house, kids…Most meaningful thing life has taught me so far is to cherish all the little things.”

We can’t change people

“We can’t change people, only God can do that. I’m just here to serve them. The greatest thing life has taught me, is to love one another. Simply, that’s what it is…You know, in this crazy, crazy world, God is my sanity.”
